On 8th August 2015 it has been 200 years since Frederick and Elizabeth Garling arrived in Sydney to take up the position of Crown Solicitor for the Colony. A family gathering has taken place in Sydney for all descendants.

Kathy submitted: 200 years may not seem a long time in Europe but for Australians it is of great significance. I have traced over 1300 direct descendants from Frederick and Elizabeth of which about 750 are living but I know there are more to find and I am running out of time!

Australian Garlings have had a great impact on Australian society and have contributed in many areas but have probably had the greatest impact in the areas of law, art, media, research and business.
